A website is the first handshake. Get it wrong and the visitor leaves before you say anything. Get it right and the design does the selling for you, quietly, on every screen. We are Themewaves, and we design sites for businesses that have to look credible and earn their keep at the same time. Pretty is not the goal. Pretty that converts is.

Most web design fails for a boring reason: it was built to impress the brand, not the buyer. We work the other way around. Every layout decision starts from what a real person is trying to do on the page, and what stops them. Then we make that path obvious, fast, and honest.

What good web design actually does

Visual craft and commercial outcome are not opposites. Done properly they reinforce each other. A page that reads cleanly is a page people trust, and trust is what gets the click. Here is what we hold every design to.

The four disciplines inside web design

We split web design into four practices that you can take individually or as one programme. They overlap on purpose. Our conversion rate optimisation work turns existing traffic into more revenue through testing and friction removal. Responsive web design makes sure the experience holds up from a 360px phone to an ultrawide monitor. The user experience practice handles the research, wireframing, and usability testing that decide whether people understand the page at all. And WordPress web design delivers all of that on a platform your team can actually edit. Together they cover the whole lifecycle, from first sketch to ongoing experiment.

How an engagement runs

We do not start in a design tool. We start with questions. Who is this for, what do they need to decide, and where do they currently fall off. From there the work moves in clear stages.

  1. Discovery. Audience, goals, competitors, and a hard look at your current analytics.
  2. Structure. Information architecture and wireframes before a single colour is chosen.
  3. Design. High-fidelity screens built on a reusable component system.
  4. Build and test. A responsive, accessible front end, then measurement to prove it works.

Designed for your market

Selling across markets means more than one language and more than one set of expectations. We design with GDPR-friendly consent flows in mind, plan for multilingual content from the structure up, and keep performance high on the mobile networks your customers actually use. FAQ

Do you redesign existing sites or only build from scratch?

Both. Plenty of our work is rescuing a site that looks dated or leaks conversions, where the brand is fine but the structure and speed are not. We will tell you honestly whether a refresh or a rebuild gives you the better return.

Can you work to our existing brand guidelines?

Yes. If you have a brand book, we design within it and extend it for the web. If you do not, we can establish the digital side of the identity as part of the project.

How do we get started?

Tell us what the site needs to achieve and where it is falling short today. Get in touch and we will come back with a focused recommendation rather than a generic quote.
